Overview
Astro Planner ("the App") is an astrophotography planning application. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Data We Collect
Location Data
- The App requests access to your device's GPS location to calculate accurate sunrise/sunset times, moon positions, and sky conditions for your area.
- Location data is processed entirely on your device. It is never transmitted to external servers.
- Your last-known coordinates are cached locally on your device for convenience. You may also enter coordinates manually.
No Personal Data
- We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information such as your name, email address, or account credentials.
- We do not require user registration or accounts.
No Analytics or Tracking
- The App does not include any analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, or tracking mechanisms.
- We do not track your usage behavior.
Third-Party Services
Map Tiles
The light pollution map feature loads map tiles from OpenStreetMap and third-party tile providers. These requests are subject to the respective providers' privacy policies:
NOAA Space Weather Data
The Aurora feature fetches geomagnetic activity data (Kp index and forecast) from NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC). These requests do not include any personal or location data — only standard HTTP headers are sent.
No Other Third Parties
Beyond map tile loading and NOAA weather data, the App does not communicate with any external servers or third-party services.
Data Storage
- All data (cached location, preferences) is stored locally on your device using standard platform storage mechanisms.
- Uninstalling the App removes all stored data.
Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Since no personal data is collected from any user, there is no risk of children's data being compromised.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
